We’re Thankful to Care for Your Pets!
Dr. Laura with our special friend, Rex.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we want to express our heartfelt thanks for the privilege of caring for your cherished pets. Thank you for trusting us with the health of your beloved furry family members. We love providing stress-free and loving care for every one of them. It brings us great joy. For us at Wags Animal Hospital, great appreciation comes with great advice.

As you serve up scrumptious meals and entertain the people you love, we encourage you to keep your fur babies safe with these Thanksgiving tips.

Skip the table scraps: Holiday foods and sweets can actually be very harmful to your four-legged family members. Rich, fatty foods can cause serious health issues, including pancreatitis and liver damage. These can often end up resulting in the need for IV fluids and hospitalization.

Remove the temptation: Don’t leave food on the counter or table where your pets can access it — if they can smell it, it may be too tempting to resist. Chicken and turkey bones can be especially dangerous.

Secure the trash outside of your home: Keeping it out of their reach is the best strategy for safety.

When you’re ready to sit down to eat, that’s a great time to feed your fur babies (their normal food). That way, they’re part of the family celebration rhythm and safe from harm. Lavishing them with special attention, plenty of cuddles, and a few pet-friendly treats are healthy ways to include them in a festive Thanksgiving Day.

Many dogs and cats become overwhelmed with lots of guests, unfamiliar people, elevated noise levels, and the change in their routine. You can help them feel safe by creating a calm space that they can retreat to if they want to. You and your holiday guests can be watchful to make sure that your pets don’t escape your home as people come in and out.

From the Wags Animal Hospital family to yours, thank you for trusting us to care for your beloved cats and dogs. We love them, too. Keep the holiday happy by keeping your pet healthy and out of the emergency room! With gratitude, we wish you a holiday season filled with warmth, good health, and cheer.
